This is the breakdown as to the markets and  security considerations for each of the markets that USSS would typically be engaged in.  USSS will take into consideration the unique  nature of each of these markets in addition to the individuality of each of our customers.

Correctional Institutions: These facilities have a dual responsibility to both monitor and manage the correctional population. First and foremost, they have to be watching out for the security and for the well-being of the correctional employees, visitors and service personnel.   In many institutions, there is a need to enhance the prisoner processing and movement control of the prisoners.  Any of the technology tools that can be used to help in these endeavors, as well as not make the processing and control of the correctional population overly complex is paramount.

Law Enforcement: While many would put correctional institutions and law enforcement entities in the same group, their goals and mandates are fundamentally different. While both groups are keenly interested in protecting security personnel (correctional and law enforcement officers), the law enforcement group is also very interested in finding more effective ways to gather evidence during criminal investigations.  This evidence can take the form of biometric and forensic information ( mug shots, fingerprints, facial biometric templates, etc.), incident reports (911 reports, crime reports, criminal history, etc.), criminal profiles across groups (such as robbery, sex crimes, stalking, etc.), and video evidence, as well.  One of the most important needs is being able to gather this information across jurisdictional lines, accurately, quickly and securely.

Government Facilities: This group of facilities is very often under the supervision of the local law enforcement groups. What the security personnel at the government facilities are primarily concerned with, is both the protection of government personnel and property.  This protection can be against known threats from groups or individuals, as well as any unwarranted intrusion into the facilities’ parameter.  Any technology addition in this environment must both complement existing technology and enhance the ability for security personnel to manage the government facility against any potential threat.

Transportation Facilities: Transportation facilities would include seaports, airports and rail terminals among others.  Many of these facilities are controlled by the same law enforcement agencies that work in the correctional, police jurisdictions, and government facilities.  The security concern may be equally divided by both the inside and outside environments.  The security initiative may require some unique solutions, such as policy alerts, that will enhance the security at these locations.

Corporate Facilities: These facilities are very similar to the government facilities except that multi-site environments, potentially across regional lines, may have to be considered during the consultation.  Also, the access control method for employees would probably need to be addressed across multi-building campus environments.  Technology aids such as biometrics and surveillance cameras may help the security force manage both the parameter and personnel, while not overly burdening the security personnel.  All of the above factors would have to be considered.

These are the different market security segments that USSS is actively pursuing:

Physical Access Control: This would include the traditional access control methods now currently in place as well as the biometric enhancements that would add the extra layer of needed security.

Surveillance and Monitoring: The evolving need of physical surveillance is coming more intensive as well as becoming more all encompassing. Our customers are facing the challenge of manpower constraints at the same time they will be mandated to undertake a greater level of surveillance.

Computer and Data Security: The need to provide security to protect both network operations as well as database security is becoming more acute.  Biometrics are being called upon to provide this extra level of security at both the operations and program level.

Personnel Identification Protection: Identity thief has become epidemic across the United Stated and USSS will have consultative personnel available to identify both personnel identity protection weakness’ as well as solutions to overcome this weakness’.

Security and Biometric Consultative and Project Management Services: USSS/SecurLinx has a team of professionals at it’s deposal who can both provide the needed guidance to chart the customers security needs as well as provide project management services to bring a project to competition.
